rafael had sucked his thumb two or three times before, and recently he's starting to pick this up again. sometimes he seems unable to put his thumb into his mouth (maybe because his clothes are obstructing him) and i will actually help him get it. dentists say thumb-sucking might affect dental development, but i do think it's a pretty good self-soothing technique. :P
