update

thanks for all your blessings. heather was discharged after phototherapy for one day but we're still struggling with the jaundice and breastfeeding.

her jaundice situation seems to be improving but the progress has been slow, which is common among breastfed babies. we've been in and out of the hospital for blood checks to monitor her situation and luckily we got daddy to be our driver.

day 12

bottles were introduced to heather starting from the hospital stay and she has got some nipple confusion which led her suck even worse while nursing. with the help of a le leche league leader, i am using this straw-like lactation aid to give supplement of expressed breastmilk to heather while she was nursing. hopefully she will learn to latch on better and drink more at the same time so her jaundice situation will improve further and she will get back to her birth weight soon.

for my part, it means waking up heather round the clock for nursing plus pumping 8 times a day to keep up my milk supply. it was a complete chaos last week but as you can see me finally updating this blog, we can proudly say that we've already got used to this crazy routine. i even got the energy to read through all my google reader subscriptions plus online newspapers this morning. :P

will need to monitor heather's jaundice situation for a while. no more blood tests for our little girl i hope. fingers crossed.

Good to see your update about heather. 8 times pumping everyday keeps you busy. Hope heather will get used to the sucking later.

my milk supply is low and i have been breastfeeding + pumping(everytime after fed) as per the lactation consultant suggested in order to increase my milk supply; therefore, i totally understand how busy/commit it is to do pumping/breastfeeding 8 times a day.

and i still not able to finish reading all my google reader subscription, and not even have enough time to finish writing one blog entry.

Heather's photo is so much like Rafael...

Glad she is back home. Hang in there, it will get better soon. I have been thru the breastfeeding problems with Yoshi, I remembered those pumping...there were days I felt like a cow milking with machine...but after 3 months, I gave another try again, then everything back to normal. So hang in there, u have our emotional support.

a late congratulations to all of you Amy!

as i could (hardly) remember, it's always chaotic in the beginning and it would always be fine at the end of each beautiful day with a new life:)

gwen: how's your pumping and breastfeeding. i'm a 2nd time breastfeeding mom but i felt like a complete beginner this time with a new baby! let's hang in there together! :)

woodstockbb, kambayashi, judy: yeah everybody say that rafael and heather look alike. and most people say rafael looks like dad, that means they both look like mac? oh where have my genes gone?!

沒有看你們的blog好一陣子,連BB出生了解也不知道...

Sarah出生時也有些黃疸,之後照了2天燈就沒事了,小寶寶的適應力很強啊! Same to heather.
